MBA Nonprofit Board Member Program

Crummer MBA Nonprofit Board Member Program

In 2006, the Edyth Bush Institute, in partnership with the Leadership Development Center, began offering organizational members of the Institute an opportunity to receive an active Crummer MBA student to serve on their nonprofit board of directors for the length of the student’s education.

Placements occur in the Spring and Fall of each calendar year.

Benefits to Participating Nonprofit Organizations

These bright, energetic students are valuable additions to the boards they serve.
Nonprofit organizations who choose to participate receive an individual who has received training in board governance. The MBA Student also contributes to the nonprofit board of directors in many ways:

  • Offering an enthusiastic and experiential approach that adds a unique prospective.
  • Providing business skills based on their experiences at the Crummer Graduate School of Business.
  • Access to the counsel of Crummer faculty and staff.
  • Increasing the board’s circle of contacts.
  • Creating a new generation of leaders committed to the mission of Florida nonprofit organizations.

Expectations of Participating Nonprofit Organizations

  • Active membership with the Edyth Bush Institute.
  • The MBA Student’s commitment is for the period he/she is enrolled in Crummer Graduate School of Business.
  • The MBA Student will not be required to make a financial commitment to the organization. However, the student is encouraged to make an appropriate donation, as they are able.
  • The organization will provide the MBA Student with a board member expectation statement, board manual, and formal orientation.
  • The organization will amend their by-laws to allow for MBA student participation as a full voting member.
  • The organization will match the MBA student with a board mentor for the duration of their service.

Applications to receive a student are received throughout the calendar year. If you are interested in participating in this exciting opportunity, please provide proof of your organizations Directors & Officers Liability Insurance to ebi@rollins.edu and complete the following:
