Objective of the role:

The part-time Grant Writer position is a newly created position designed to support all development efforts related to grant writing of United Against Poverty (also known as UP Orlando).  As the busiest social service agency in the state of Florida, UP Orlando is a fast paced agency with the purpose of inspiring and empowering those living in poverty to become self-sufficient. This position is ultimately involved with foundation and governmental relationships contributing in excess of $300,000 per year to United Against Poverty.

Responsibilities:

  • Research, manage and grow grant funding opportunities to support overall development efforts and financial needs of UP Orlando
  • Manage the complete grant process by identifying new grant opportunities, generating letters of inquiry, proposals, reporting and stewardship of the granting agencies
  • The expectation would be the management of 45 to 60 grants per year. 75% of these grants will have been applied for previously and successfully funded
  • Assist in developing external and internal communication and marketing materials for press releases and social media efforts
  • Providing content for United Against Poverty blog four to eight times annually
  • Assist in creating content and management of all social media platforms

 Requirements

  • Experience in writing and/or copy-editing and evidence of high-level organizational skills
  • Experience working in grant writing or grant management preferred
  • Experience with Microsoft Excel, Word and Power Point
  • Excellent organizational, writing, customer service, and communications skills
  • Passion to serve the community and UP Orlando’s members
  • This job can be performed remotely with weekly or bi-weekly web conferencing
