This position can be located in either Tampa or Orlando.

At Quest Inc, Reporting to the President & CEO, the Vice President of Development is responsible for all fundraising and resource development activities. The successful candidate will continue to forge new relationships to build Quest’s visibility, impact and financial resources. The VP of Development will continue to build on and implement comprehensive plans for developing key external alliances by cultivating philanthropic support from the community.

The VP of Development will have primary responsibility for ensuring the Development team’s infrastructure is solidly in place to grow contributed revenue through the solicitation of major gifts, special events, corporate and foundation support and grants from public and private source.

  • Provide leadership for the Development Team and engage the President & CEO on all major fundraising initiatives
  • Lead the Development Team in devising and implementing a comprehensive development strategy and annual fundraising plan that includes corporate, foundation, public funding, a robust grants program, significant events focus and meaningful volunteer engagement
  • Ensure that Development annual plans support long-term strategy and vision for Development’s role in Quest’s overall strategy and funding mix
  • Work with CFO to develop an approved budget for annual contributed revenue
  • Continuously monitor all lines of contributed revenue tracking daily, weekly, monthly, year to date and annual financial commitments vs. actual results
  • Understanding the imperative to deliver agreed upon contributed revenue, be proactive in trouble shooting plans and altering priorities as needed if financial results are not fulfilling budget commitments
  • Providing leadership and working with Director of Development-Tampa, ensure the expansion of Tampa fundraising and partnership opportunities with the goal of transforming the Tampa region into a significant funding source by 2020  
  • Manage a cadre of at least ten donors, ideally new to Quest, who can support the mission
  • Collaborate with Marketing to ensure robust donor communication tools are in place and actively working to serve Development goals
  • Ensure donor recognition, acknowledgement and stewardship protocols are effectively building relationships
  • Work closely with Quest’s Board of Directors in recruiting new board members, identifying gaps and goals for the Board, helping to ensure board member adherence to commitments, attending board meetings and building board partnerships that benefit the mission
  • Stay knowledgeable about philanthropic trends in the community as they impact fundraising goals and enable astute planning for upcoming year(s)
  • Recruit as needed, develop, inspire and mentor the Development Team


  • 10-plus years of professional experience in a nonprofit organization in Central Florida (Orlando and/or Tampa;) demonstrated track record in a multi-million dollar development function managing and forging relationships with multiple donor sources
  • Tangible experience of having initiated, expanded and cultivated existing donor relationships over time
  • Professional demeanor accompanied by excellent communication skills, both written and verbal; a resourceful and winning style with ability to influence and engage a wide range of donors and build long term relationships
  • Flexible and adaptable style; a leader who can positively impact both strategic and tactical fundraising initiatives
  • Ability to work independently without close oversight, but also a team player who will productively engage with others at varying levels of seniority within and outside Quest
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred. CRFE a positive. Edyth Bush Institute at Rollins College Certificate in Fundraising and Development a plus
  • High energy and passion for Quest’s mission to serve people with developmental disabilities is essential
  • Ability to construct, articulate, and implement annual development plan
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with exceptional attention to detail is essential
  • Eligible to legally work in the United States
  • Successfully complete a background check and drug screen
  • Valid Driver’s License with a clean driving record
