This session will provide a detailed update on various tax issues affecting the nonprofit industry including, but not limited to:

  • the provisions introduced by the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act. 
  • Gain an understanding as to whether reporting employee fringe benefits; transit benefits and qualified parking, as unrelated business income subject to a 21% corporate tax apply to your organization. 
  • An in-depth look at unrelated business income and how multiple unrelated business activities are now required to be reported separately. 
  • Also, learn about the new rules associated with net operating losses and unrelated business income. 
  • An analysis of Internal Revenue Service Notice 2018-67 will be discussed. 
  • Learn about the new 21% excise tax on excess compensation and its applicability to nonprofit organizations.

Tony has over 20 years of experience providing tax compliance and consulting services specializing in the not for-profit and healthcare industries.

Tony also assists not-for-profit clients with corporate structuring, including joint ventures with taxable entities, and the maintenance of tax-exempt status.

Tony received his undergraduate degree in finance and marketing from Albany State University of New York and his Masters of Science Degree in accounting from Pace University’s Lubin School of Business.

Tony is a frequent speaker on various tax topics for the nor for-profit and healthcare industries.  He has spoken for many organizations including the Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Connecticut state societies of CPAs, various chapters of Healthcare Financial Management Association, joint presentations with Wells Fargo and WithumSmith+Brown sponsored CPE sessions both live and via webinar.
