The Certificate in Leadership Practice is designed for nonprofit professionals who want to become respected leaders in their field. During this leadership immersion experience you will develop a road map to maximize your potential and help you overcome hindrances to success.

You will:

  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of your own leadership style through self-assessment
  • Apply and integrate leadership concepts into a variety of real-life situations
  • Understand the link between leadership and power, motivation and trust
  • Think critically about innovative leadership styles
  • Understand organization dynamics and the role leaders play at all levels
  • Become a more effective leader within your current, or future leadership positions

You will engage in four interactive sessions that help you identify and understand your own leadership style. It will challenge you to leverage your personal strengths. You will complete self-assessments and feedback instruments to help you understand what type of leader you are and how you can effectively use those skills for leading teams and communicating with co-workers.  

Topics included will be:

  • DiSC profile - The DiSC model provides a common language that people can use to better understand themselves and adapt their behaviors with others - within a work team, a sales relationship, a leadership position, or other relationships. 
  • Thomas-Kilmann Conflict MODE Instrument -The TKI is designed to measure a person's behavior in conflict situations and then provides five modes for responding to conflict situations.
  • Mindset Matters- understanding core values and how to navigate changes in a person's lives and work as well as how to transform mental and emotional stress to bring calm and clarity to all situations. 
  • Motivating by Appreciation (MBA) Inventory assessment-identifies a person's preferred languages of appreciation. 
  • Working with teams - how do we find fulfillment and how to bring to our teams; How do we evaluate our teams and learn to improve them.  .

The fee is $1,200 for members and $1,850 for nonmembers, inclusive of all training materials, assessments, and three leadership books.

Only $840 with scholarship! Scholarships are available to Edyth Bush Institute member organizations. Scholarships for the Certificate in Leadership Practice will not count toward an organization's $500 scholarship threshold. Please complete the Scholarship Application in lieu of the online registration. Active participation is expected. The Certificate in Leadership Practice involves the completion of out-of-session reading and assignments. A Certificate will only be awarded to those who complete all of the required assignments and attend all four sessions in their entirety.
