From hurricanes to scandals, we see the effects of organizational crises in the news every day.  None of us are immune to surprises, so it’s important that your organization prepare for the unexpected. This course will introduce the process of assessing and rating risk, preparing contingency plans, the 8 steps to crisis resolution, and the goal and function of a crisis resolution team.

The crisis management process is an organization's way of preparing for and managing crises that may threaten its function or existence. Much of the work of crisis management is done before a crisis occurs.

Participants will leave with:

  • An overview of crisis management.
  • An understanding of how to facilitate a group risk assessment, with an Excel assessment tool.
  • A template for writing a thorough contingency plan.
  • The 8 step crisis resolution protocol.

Cost: $80 members, $160 non-members

Instructor: Barrett Brown, Internal Consultant, Cru

Barrett Brown has served with Cru ( for 32 years, 27 of those years at the World Headquarters here in Orlando.  He has served as both Human Resource Director and Global Crisis Manager.  He has trained hundreds in the area of crisis management.  As an internal consultant, he is currently facilitating the development of Cru's Cyber Incident Response Team.

Barrett is a graduate of Ohio State University and Rollins College, where he earned his Master of Human Resources.  He is married and has 5 children.
