Full-time benefited position. The Development Specialist serves in a supporting role as a member of the Development Department with a focus on Corporation and Foundation giving, enabling the team to build sustainable relationships that support Orlando Science Center.   Must be able to work efficiently and with attention to detail in a fast-paced environment that requires adaptability to shifting priorities, a sense of urgency and commitment to excellence.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Manages donor recognition for the Development Department by accurately maintaining recognition information and implementing updates/additions to recognition in publications and on donor wall, signage, and the website. Responsible for all corporate recognition and deliverables for special events and the Corporate Partnership program.
  • Manages the silent auction for fundraising events, including securing all auction items, event set up, and acknowledgement.
  • Coordinates list development and invitations for VIP events, reaches out to potential VIP’s, makes follow-up calls, and prepares any event materials needed.
  • Process, renew, and ensure timely distribution of all Board of Trustees memberships annually.
  • Coordinates Development Department’s input for Annual Community Impact Report and SCOPE magazine; works with marketing/graphics to ensure accuracy and timeliness.
  • Assists with database administration, maintaining accurate records, reports, list development, and special projects as needed.
  • Assists with prospect research, analyzing information to assess capacity, propensity, and linkages, and compiling profiles and biographies as appropriate.
  • Provides logistical support for all development-related events, and other fundraising activities, including but not limited to determine appropriate announcements and raffle items to promote, manages the guest list, manages the silent auction check out, manages all aspects of guest registration.  
  • Ensure proper presentation of materials and other deliverables as necessary in support of the Development team.
  • Represents the Development team at monthly cross departmental project meetings.
  • Utilize best practices to ensure proper acknowledgement, recognition, and stewardship of corporate donors.
  • Serves as the development database (Tessitura) administrator, manages moves, input, and reports that allow the department to assess progress. Also oversees TRG Community Database, iWave, and Donor Search systems for wealth screening, list development, and donor prospect review.
  • Manages department interns and volunteers, including scheduling and project assignment.
  • Other duties as assigned


Minimum of Bachelor’s degree; excellent research and writing skills. Ability to work in a fast paced environment and respond to changing needs.


Sit for an extended period of time, ability to lift 30 pounds, ability to participate in weekend and after-hours events.
