Description & Details


  • Support the vision, mission, and priorities of Center for Independent living through understanding and implementing the development plan specifically focusing on special events & corporate partnerships.
  • Actively cultivate, solicit and steward corporate donors that can further CIL’s mission.
  • Secure monetary and in-kind support for CIL events and programs through corporate and individual sponsorships and donations.
  • In conjunction with the Development Director identify, solicit, recruit and develop volunteer committee members for each event. Identify areas that require improvement to ensure the success of each committee.
  • Coordinate planning & logistics for CIL special events including but not limited to our annual Stroll ‘n’ Roll and Celebrating Independent Gala.  Work with the Marketing & Communications Manager to create and disseminate special event correspondence and promotional materials as well as coordinate and implement e-communications, mailings and event publicizing. Work closely with the Volunteer Coordinator to ensure volunteer needs on each event are met and event runs smoothly.
  • Recruit and coach event team captains and participants. Cultivate relationships and effectively engage participants via phone, email and current peer-to-peer fundraising platform. Work with the Development Director to increase event participation and revenue. Serve as liaison for customer service and troubleshooting for CIL events and kick offs.
  • Manage and maintain accurate and complete records of event status. Submit reports to the Development Director. Ensure that the logistics and budget/timelines are met for each assigned event/activity. Ensure accurate recording of information into donor management system. Keep corporate donor profiles current with contact information and notes.

Other Duties:

  • Perform or assist with any operations, as required or directed, to maintain work flow or respond to special requests.
  • Conduct presentations/training as needed by the agency.
  • Actively attend networking events throughout the 7 counties we serve.
  • Represent CIL at or participate in functions other than specified above.


  •  BA in Business, Marketing, Event Management, Hospitality Management, Nonprofit Management or related field
  • One or two years of fundraising experience preferred with proven experience recruiting volunteers/participants and coordinating events.
  • Strong partnership-building and event planning skills
  • Excellent ability to communicate clearly and persuasively both verbally and in writing to a wide range of people. Active listening, analytical, and problem solving skills.
  • Proven management and leadership capabilities.
  • High energy, positive, “can-do” attitude, flexibility, teamwork, and attention to detail; high degree of initiative.
  • Effectively multi-task, establish priorities, and work in a fast paced environment. Highly efficient in time management and punctuality.
  • Detail-oriented and strong organization skills. Can meet deadlines under pressure.
  • Must be a self-starter while also being collaborative and a team player.
  • Must be highly proficient in the use of the latest office support technology, particularly in the use of MS Office products including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook as well as social media outlets including but not limited to: Facebook, Instagram, Twitter
  • Must have reliable transportation.
  • Must be available and willing to work a non-standard workweek, including flexible schedules, evenings, and weekends.
