POSITION DESCRIPTION:  Provide prevention related educational trainings and community awareness to reduce and eliminate factors that cause or contribute to violence and crime in Central Florida.



Education and Training

  • Assist Marketing and Communications Director in the development of a comprehensive program to prevent sexual violence and crime.

  • Cultivate strategic partnerships through community outreach efforts.

  • Provide presentations to targeted audiences identified in both the organization’s strategic plan and the Development and Communications plan in an effort to increase awareness of VSC programs and services.

  • Train targeted audiences on strategies to reduce violence in our community.

  • Develop, maintain, and track all education, training, and outreach events on a calendar and in the agency database.

  • Build relationships with partner agencies by remaining in ongoing communication and stewarding those relationships.

  • Promote agency services through regular contact with community partners and resource providers.

Bystander Intervention, Prevention and Risk Reduction

  • Promote agency.  Identify, coordinate and schedule opportunities for community awareness.

  • Provide educational trainings that identify stereotypical attitudes and gender objectification and show how these beliefs contribute to myths that surround the socialization process and contribute to sexual violence and crime. 

  • Design and provide educational presentations and trainings on topics such as crime prevention, sexual assault, the characteristics of healthy/unhealthy relationships, active bystander intervention, and sexual violence preventative techniques in an effort to end crime and sexual violence.

Information and Referral

  • Provide information about the organization’s resources, programs and services.

  • Continually update Community Outreach resources in order to provide accurate VSC information.

  • Distribute agency collateral which provides current information regarding the organizations programs, services, and ways to get involved. 

  • Work with VSC Crisis Counselors and other VSC staff to provide direct care support, as needed.


Other duties

  • Conduct ongoing process and outcome evaluations in order to measure successes.

  • Perform miscellaneous duties as assigned.



  • Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s preferred.

  • Minimum of one year of experience in the field of social services/victim services or related field.

  • Experience training, teaching, and/or public speaking.
  • Successfully pass a criminal background check and E-verify.

  • Complete the Florida Council Against Sexual Violence Advocacy Training within 30 days of hire.

  • Possess a valid Florida Driver’s license, proof of automobile insurance, and have a satisfactory driving record. 

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to interact positively with unique individuals of all ages, genders, religions, cultures, ethnicities, attitudes, beliefs, other characteristics without discrimination, demonstrating cultural competency and community awareness.

  • Basic computer skills including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook.

  • Understand and protect client confidentiality.

  • Ability to work independently and make decisions in accordance with established policies and regulations. 

  • Ability to work a non-traditional schedule.

    The salary range for this position is $36,000 - $40,000 yearly.  The organization offers multiple benefits including, but not limited to, health & dental insurance, short term disability, paid vacation and 401-K.
