There are four components of a Special Event that will make it successful.  These will be fully covered by the course instructor, Joan Mound, who has implemented and coached hundreds of nonprofit organizations through their events, both first time events and on-going events.  She will share the proven best practices that have allowed organizations to meet their financial goals as well as provide an audience for future cultivation.

Joan will demonstrate a proven process and best practices that will not only achieve financial rewards, but reap other benefits from holding special events and they are:

  • a forum for showcasing your organization’s mission and vision;
  • securing new board members;
  •  obtaining new corporate partners;
  •  identifying new volunteers and 
  • adding new donors.

Instructor: Joan Mound, Principal, ejImpact

Joan has over 30 years of experience in the non-profit community, having worked on both local and national levels.  She is passionate about Special Events and their importance and impact on all aspects of an organization’s revenue streams.  Joan has worked with top level CEO’s who have taken on the role of Honoree and Corporate Chair for galas, walkathons, golf outings and other special events.  She has worked with volunteer groups in all capacities and has shared timelines and timeframes; goals and objectives with staff and volunteers.

Through her partnerships with many national corporations involved with an organization’s special event, she was able to garner a two million dollar donation which was the first ever for that organization.

When it comes to the planning, set-up and execution of a special event, no one does it better than Joan.  She understands that there are "just so many hours in the day” for a staff person to implement a special event which is why she emphasizes the importance of a timeline and how to use it.  Joan brings her best practices and proven process to all her workshops, on-line courses and coaching partnerships to make sure that every organization reaches their greatest potential.

Joan has authored several manuals, developed special event training for colleges, AFP Chapters, national organizations and national webinars.
