Basic Course

This workshop will introduce you to grantmaking and how to use online sources to identify foundations, corporations, and federal funding partners.   

 You will learn:

  • to research foundations that are interested in funding your mission
  • to identify three potential foundation funding sources of nonprofit organizations
  • to catalogue and track your funding research

This workshop is the prerequisite for the Certificate in Proposal Writing.

Tuition: $70 Members, $140 Non-members

Instructor: Emily Furlong, Senior Program Manager, Philanthropy Center

Emily Furlong Emily Furlong is the senior program manager at the Philanthropy and Nonprofit Leadership Center where she is responsible for continuing education for nonprofit organizations. Her teaching credentials include volunteer management, fundraising and development, and board governance. She has been a founding member of two nonprofits, Seminole Heart and Habitat for Humanity of Seminole County, and served as executive director and Chairman of the Board of Seminole Heart. She is also the past Chairperson of the United Arts of Central Florida’s Standard and Allocation Committee.  Previous to these positions she was the volunteer manager at Meals on Wheels and Harbor House. Emily is a graduate of the University of Mississippi.
