Join us for a two-part workshop on using QuickBooks accounting software in a not-for-profit environment. You’ll learn how to account for grants and restricted gifts, fundraising events, in-kind donations, functional expenses and more. Other topics include inventory tracking, bank reconciliations and setting up a budget. This is a hands-on course with plenty of tips and tricks for using QuickBooks to produce the reports you need!

It is recommended that you have a basic understanding of QuickBooks and nonprofit accounting knowledge prior to registering for this course.

Learning Objectives:

Day 1:
1. Learn how to set up a QuickBooks company file and the chart of accounts.
2. Learn how to record unrestricted and restricted sources of income.
3. Learn how to enter expenses and items purchased for resale.

Day 2:
1. Learn how to record the various revenues and expenses of fundraising events.
2. Learn how to enter payroll prepared by a payroll service and allocate it to the functional expense areas.
3. Learn how to set up a budget.

Instructor: Carol Wilson, MBA, CPA, Schulz & Wilson, LLC

Carol WilsonCarol Wilson is a CPA who has worked in the nonprofit sector for over ten years. She completed her Master of Business Administration degree from the Roy E. Crummer Graduate School of Business at Rollins College in April 2008. Over the past six years, she has taught workshops on nonprofit accounting and budgeting for the Philanthropy & Nonprofit Leadership Center at Rollins College. Carol served as Accounting Manager in the Finance Department at Rollins College from 2000 – 2008. In that role she enjoyed teaching members of the campus community about budget management. Prior to Rollins, Carol assisted with the start up and was executive director of Florida Bicycle Association, a not-for-profit organization. Currently Carol is a partner with Care Accounting Services where she helps small businesses and nonprofit organizations set up and use accounting systems. She is also a QuickBooks Advanced Certified ProAdvisor.
