A great grant writer is always in demand, so if you enjoy research and writing, love a challenge or just want to win increased funding for your nonprofit, you’ll want to consider pursuing a Certificate in Proposal Writing. This series offers new and experienced grant writers a comprehensive and concentrated training to strengthen and sharpen grant writing skills for success.

You will receive a step by step process to develop carefully targeted, well-written proposals that make a compelling case for your nonprofit and its mission while steering clear of common grant proposal pitfalls. This series is designed to be interactive through the use of speakers, group discussions, group exercises, and ends with the completion of an actual proposal, which is peer-reviewed and mentor-reviewed.

This is the only course of its kind that affords you the opportunity to meet face-to-face with local funders to hear what they look for in grant applications. During the proposal writing series, prominent area funders speak about funding, proposal writing, and what they look for in a proposal. Some of the past funders included: Edyth Bush Charitable Foundation, Central Florida Foundation, Darden Restaurants, Inc. Foundation, United Arts of Central Florida, Elizabeth Morse Genius Foundation, Massey Services Foundation, SeaWorld Foundation, and Dr. P. Phillips Foundation.

Be prepared to invest time into this workshop series. In order to receive your Certificate in Proposal Writing, you must complete a finished proposal and attend all five sessions in their entirety.  These requirements are designed for your success as each class builds on the next.

Past participants of our Rollins College Certificate in Proposal Writing series rate it highly:

This class was a success in so many ways, and I wanted to share the phenomenal news. [...] Dr. Maroon and all our visiting speakers have been instrumental in my growth as a novice grant writer. And the news…I just got  a call from my Executive Director [...] The Foundation sent us a $10,000 check based on my initial email letters and contact. Thank you so much for your mentoring and encouragement.

I attended some grant writing workshops you held in the past and just got approved for $250,000 for a paramedic home visit program in Seminole County.  I wanted to thank you and your education team.  Very exciting time for us!

Fantastic series!!! Great teacher!!! Great handout materials!!! Quality speakers!!! Great homework assignments!! Good networking!!

I learned so much I feel encouraged to master the grant writing process for my nonprofit.

I’m not only becoming better at crafting effective proposals, I am becoming a more powerful writer.

Wow! Even as an experienced proposal writer, I learned a tremendous amount, and I am excited to implement it in my work.
