Corporate Support Post-Hurricanes: Nonprofit Wish List

Posted By Administration, Thursday, November 9, 2017

It has been weeks since hurricanes Irma and Maria ravished Central Florida and Puerto Rico, yet many of the nonprofit organizations in our community are still struggling to meet the increased demands caused by the storm. In times of crisis, the need for corporate social responsibility (CSR) is heightened, however companies without an established CSR plan often don’t know how or where to start.

Beyond philanthropy, there are many ways socially-responsible companies can contribute including in-kind donations or skilled services. The Edyth Bush Institute recently polled the Central Florida nonprofit community after the hurricanes and uncovered a few ways companies could assist in ongoing relief efforts:

·      Volunteers skilled in moving services

·      Roofing services

·      Scholarship support for after school programs for children from Puerto Rico

·      Medical aid, equipment, supplies

·      Diesel fuel for generators to cook meals

If your company is uniquely qualified and/or able to contribute to any of these areas, please contact our manager of corporate citizenship, Kecia Carroll, who can help connect you to the nonprofits in need. csrhub@rollins.edu | 407.975.6414
