This strong number, along with the wide variety of participants, helps ensure accurate and reliable information and allows us to draw conclusions about our sector. The information in this report is vital for organizations to use on the IRS form 990, for the recruitment and retention of staff, and for overall organizational benchmarking and evaluation.

Since this research was conducted last, the Central Florida nonprofit sector has felt the effects of a struggling economy, natural disasters, a devastated housing market and more. With this in mind, it is imperative that nonprofit organizations have timely information to consider as they make decisions that affect their staffing and the futures of their organizations.

For 2015, 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations with at least one paid employee, operating within the counties of Brevard, Lake, Orange, Osceola, Polk, Seminole and Volusia were invited to participate with the exception of churches, schools, colleges/universities, hospitals and foundations.

To ensure the confidentiality of all data, a minimum number of responses were required for each statistic. Where appropriate, compensation was reported utilizing the 25th percentile, median (50th percentile), 75th percentile and average. Reporting was also done, where appropriate, according to field of service, number of employees and number of employees supervised. Insurance and retirement benefits are delineated as well as other compensation and employment practices.

Attracting the best leadership and staff will help create and maintain the most effective nonprofit organizations for the people of Central Florida. To this end, we are confident you will find this valuable research useful in your organization. Thank you for everything you do for the community!
